The Henry Howard House Inn is situated one block off St. Charles Avenue in the historic Lower Garden District of New Orleans, around 1.5 miles (2.5km) southwest of the French Quarter. Key attractions in the area include the Audubon Zoological Gardens, Tulane University and Lafayette Cemetery No 1. The mansion was built in 1850 by renowned New Orleans architect Henry Howard (1804-1875). Over the years it has been through many renovations, and it wasn't until 2004 when John and Gayle Gish, the current owners, combined the newest state-of-the-art amenities such as HDTV (high definition television) and Wi-Fi high-speed Internet access with the charm and ambience of this 150 year-old architectural jewel.
